Constantly being logged out

I don’t know what is going on but I am constantly being logged out of the Nest app on my iPhone.  I recently updated to iOS 16 and this is the only app giving me a hard time. It’s very frustrating to have to log back in multiple times a day and at night and then get a code from my email to enter in and then I usually get another error message before it lets me back in.   Is anyone else experiencing the same problem. It doesn’t matter if my phone is on wifi or out on 5G or lte.  The same thing happens.

Having the same exact issue, so frustrating! The app has become unusable and I can’t see notifications from cameras anymore. This urgently needs a fix! I upgraded to iOS 16 today and already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Last night (7/20/22) I opened the app to check on my cameras and it immediately logged me out (I’m on iOS). I clicked the button “sign in with google” and it does log me in for a split second, but then takes me right back to the sign in screen.

I have deleted the app, restarted my phone, reinstalled the app, tried over and over again to log in. I do occasionally get the security emails that I’ve logged in using my google account. Sometimes it’ll show me my cameras for a second or two, sometimes it just immediately takes me back to the log in screen.

At one point, I got a couple Nest notifications for persons or movement seen in cameras, but when I click on them, it takes me to the log in screen. I have the Google Home app and can access everything and my cameras there as well. But I much prefer the Nest app so I can review more video history. It’s been a work-around for now, but I’m very frustrated that I can’t just use the Nest app.

My husband is on the account as well, has the Nest app (on iOS, too) and has no problems. The app on the App Store hasn’t been updated in over a month. My iPhone 13 Pro Max is updated to the latest version. I only have one of the new cameras that only works with the Home app. All other cameras show up on the Nest app. And like I said, I’ve deleted and reinstalled the Nest app several times along with restarting my phone. Nothing I’ve tried will get it to work and keep me logged in.

The Nest app has logged me out randomly in the past but I’ve never had a problem logging back in until last night.

Has anyone experienced this?

Same problem here. Also started yesterday. I’ve tried everything and nothing works. 

I'm having the same issue.  Not sure if it's with the recent IOS update, or just a bug in the system.  Hopefully a patch comes out soon!

I’m sorry you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. What is the make and model of your iOS device? What is the iOS version? Also, confirm that the Nest app has permissions to use the phone's location. Keep us posted.

Mine is fine and back to working.  Not sure what the fox was, but all good now!

A couple days ago I tried logging into the app again and all of a sudden it worked. I haven’t had any issues since. The Nest app wasn’t updated in the App Store, but several Google apps were. No idea if it’s somehow connected.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max on iOS version 15.6. The Nest app has always had permission to use locations. However, for those several days where it wouldn’t keep me logged in, it would (for a split second) prompt me to allow it and then suddenly go away and go back to the log in screen.

Like I said though, for a couple days now it’s been working and I’ve had no issues. Very bizarre.

Hello - I'm currently experiencing this same issue on my iPhone. I migrated to a google email account, and I'm now asked to "sign in with google" but when I try to use the correct email, it logs in for a split second, and then returns me to the "sign in with google" page. 

 

I'm using an iPhone 11  MWLQ2LL/A

iOS 15.6

I realize that I had turned off 'set automatically' in the 'date & time' section of 'settings.' Turning that back on sorted it out.

Hi, same issue here. Have been using Nest for a year now and can’t believe this problem still exists. My workaround is to use the Google Home app but this is not acceptable for a paid service. You’re happy to take my subscription money but the service I’m paying for is unusable in its existing state. 

it’s exactly what they want us to do. i will never recommend or buy any more Nest products ever again. there should be a class action suit on this.

If helpful for those who are going to work to fix the bug, the issue seems to happen every time after switching between Wi-Fi/mobile data connections.

Thanks for sharing the bit of information about the WiFi/data switching having some impact on the issue. @4nests, are you able to test that and see if you see the same behavior? I'll be happy to help sort out what's going on, but as this appears to be a new problem, I'm still trying to gather some info on this.

I confirm the issue only happens on wifi connections, and not just my home wifi - any wifi.

LTE/5G connections work fine, and until this gets fixed it's the only way I can access the app and cameras even when I'm at home.

yeah, me too - but it's not a new issue for me and has followed me with a few iOS upgrades. It's an annoyance for sure.

I can sign in - that’s the problem lol 

i keep getting logged out. Yes I still have the problem. It’s gone on for years so I wasn’t expecting it to disappear overnight lol

Sorry to hear that your account keeps on logging out from your device. A few questions: what type of account do you have (Personal or Business)? Have you tried to link a different account to check if you will have the same issue?

Not sure about the others but this issue has occurred off and on over the last few years for me. Always on home wifi. On 3 different iPhones. Has been persistent with logging me out for the last three weeks. Sometimes multiple times per day. 
I only use a Nest thermostat first gen, thankfully no cameras. 
Personal account.

No problem signing in, just doesn’t want to keep me signed in to google account

I have this problem daily and it is so very frustrating!  I have iPhone 13 Pro Max. Crazy thing is I can still talk to Alexa and she can still change temp.  Please tell me how to fix this problem!!

I'm also having problems with the app constantly logging me out. However, I've been using the app for almost a year now, on the same phone, same iOS version, same network (I'm on wifi only). It's been working fine until about a month ago. Nothing's changed on my end, so not sure what the problem is.

I’m having the same issue. Every time I go to any other app or the Home Screen on my iPhone 13 it logs me out of the nest app so I’m also not getting event notifications anymore either. Its incredibly frustrating to have to sign in every single time I want to access my camera

Update on my previous post:

I had Norton VPN installed on the device. I disabled it for a few days to test it, and I didn't get logged out. I think it may have to do with the VPN. Also, I switched back to an Android device that also has VPN and I don't have any problems with being logged out, so I'm thinking it's just an iOS problem?

Thanks for providing some troubleshooting steps. For us isolating more of the issue if this is iOS, could you try to test another iOS device if the behavior is the same?

Sigh.. same issue here, asked me to log back on when starting the nest app. Then no devices shows up, just a semi broken screen with three option, whatever I press it logs me out.. not happy. 

I tried all the things, reinstalled, restarted etc,  same issue.

Having the same issue here. Non of my iOS devices log in after I migrated my account. Just get a spinning nest logo. What a mistake.
