Device offline changing color trough voice assistant

Pdn

I have now run into an issue that whenever I want to change the color of my ledstrip and I say “hey google change ledstrip kitchen color to (color)” it says that it is offline. But i can still turn off the led strip trough the voice assistant and app also the dimming works still. It is weird because through the google home app I can control the colors of the led strips but when I want to change it trough voice assistant it ran into the issue that it is offline while it isn’t. I saw that this was a problem before and it was resolved but now it has been appeared again!

Reconnect brand app to Google Home?

Different brands of lights work differently.

With Tuya I can alter its brightness and colour without the light turning on.

Where as LIFX and TP-Kasa will turn on.

It’s an WS2812 led strip, with an esp32 S3 that controls it and I have paired it to google home. But it works fine with another google nest hub but the one in my room it would change the color trough voice commands!

Hi @Pdn,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that when you’re trying to change the color of your WS2812 LED strip using a voice command, it restates that your LED strip is offline. I can see that this is happening even though you’re still able to turn it on and off and control the dimming with voice commands, and that you’re also able to control the color of the LED strip in the Google Home app. I also see that your WS2812 LED strip is connected to your Google Home app with the help of an ESP32-S3. I appreciate the information you’ve shared and your troubleshooting efforts. I'm happy to assist.

@SmartHomeH-TAGS, thanks for jumping in.

To gather the necessary information, please answer the following questions:

  • Is the Google Home app updated to the latest version?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you tried other than testing with a different Google Nest Hub and with the Google Home app?

I’ll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

Daniel
