Devices Offline for New Home Members

I recently invited someone to join my home, using the Google Home app. We got the new device added to the home, but most of the devices (thermostats and cameras) are showing offline.

The new member has connected to our home network. Google Home is installed on the phone and the house thermostats and cameras show up as devices - they're just offline.

I want the new member to be able to use presence sensing so household temperatures will be reasonable when the phone connects to our household network. How do I do that?

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, have they migrated their account from Nest to Google? Try removing your home member and add them again. Presence sensing works best if every member of your household enables their individual phones in presence sensing settings in the Home app. If some members of your household don't use these settings, your devices may not sense that person as being home, even when they are, and your routines may not work like you expect them to. 


Turn Presence Sensing on or off:

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Tap Settings .
  3. In the "Home features" section, tap Presence sensing.
  4. Tap the switch next to Allow this home to use the phone location to turn it on or off.
