I've had the same problem since !first of August. It's worked for 3 years, how could it just quit. I dis every suggest also to no avail and dish says it's not their problem.

Of course Dish says it's not their problem. Typical handoff. Obviously neither Dish or Google care about customer satisfaction or resolving the issue.

This is the constant error received. I've tried every solution and nothing works. Google needs to fix. It worked before and the only reason I went with Google Nest was Dish had offered it. You can't say it works with Google when in fact it doesn't now.

Hello Lclewis,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop, and I'm happy to hear that your camera works now. For your Dish network concern I’d like to help but it looks like your question is about a different issue. I'll merge this with the similar trending issue on this thread in the community. I suggest that you follow the main thread for updates.

Best,

Juni

Are they ever going to get this fixed?

Is the dish integration ever going to be resolved? If not just take dish out of the works with goggle so I can just move in and find a solution that will work.

DISH is still not linking to the google home app.  What’s the fix?

I've escalated this as high as I could with Dish. The uninstall and reinstall recommendation was hilarious. There is a definite problem with the Dish-Google link but neither party wants to work on it.  Google Home says "it's a third party app problem". Dish sent out one tech to check everything, then another tech to replace everything...all of which I told them was useless.  Seems like Google could reach out to Dish or vice-versa to find a resolution but neither appears willing to do so.  As everyone already noted, this worked find until the end of July during a Google Assistant update.

Sounds to me an easy trouble shooting would be for them to remove the update on their end, or even ours, and to see what they did on the update and either leave that portion off or figure out what about the update is causing the problem. I read somewhere that someone said they spoke with Dish and the Tech stated to update the Software. I check my "Software" and it was up to date. So I went through the procedure again and do you know what??? Still didn't work. When I was a software engineer we would try to duplicate the problem to help resolve the issue. I guess they don't do quality assurance.  So the drama/saga continues.

Doesn't anyone understand? Dish or Google don't give a rats ass about it's customers, but don't forget to pay those high prices. If you don't you'll get results quick!

I would like to think we all understand just using this as a place to vet our frustration. I think that, since this is for the Community Google doesn't really monitor this. I believe since this is a Dish product, i.e. I have the Hopper 3, then it should be a Dish problem to solve. But it's easier for them to just pass it off.

I just sent a message to "Google Feedback" to let them know we are having this issue. We'll see what they do. Any bets they'll do nothing? Or give a reply that it's a Dish issue?

same message. Still not working for me wondering if anyone heard an update?

Just wanted to share I too have this problem.  It just started happening not sure what changed on my end.  It was working fine in Aug.  As I come in from my morning walk and ask Google to turn on my "Hopper", then all the sudden it does not.  I just tried repairing this fault a couple of days ago and no luck.  The google home app responds with "Could not reach DISH.  Please try again."   And it does not sounds like anyone is having any luck in getting it back on line.  And yep, I just got another notice "to be honest and upfront" another $5 increase.  WTH!!!  I'm about to get rid of it all, and just go old school antenna (digital).

I'm having this same issues. Same time frame and same error messages. Thank you all for adding to this thread to show that it's affecting a lot of users.

Odds are 100/1 the problem is with Dish. They are a dying company, as is Direct TV. TV from 23k miles will exit with V8 engines and landlines. We keep Dish for our 93 year old mother; but as long as we're stuck with Dish I'd really like to be able to automate channel changes with GH again. How about it Dish? Throw us a bone? Since you're a "high tech" company you certainly crawl the web for feedback, or do you need another arm or leg first? BTW, the last place I'll go for tv after snipping the cord will be Sling. Creepy commercials written by aging fraternity boys doesn't make you hip. Slingers, indeed.

I'm having the same problem. I called Dish and they finally said I needed to call Google Nest Support. But the numbers they gave me don't work. So I joined this community so see if I can get answers here. So far no.

Dish says is Google…Google says is Dish

Nanuk007

Yep - I agree. I'm assuming everybody on this Tread contacted both Google and Dish. But since it hasn't been corrected yet shows me neither one don't care. Especially since Dish gave me Googles contact numbers and neither worked. That means, to me, that they aren't communicating. When I first contacted Dish about this problem they stated they are going to "Escalate" this to their Technical team. But since I just got Google Nest Hub Max I figured I'd give them a little time. I asked them if they are going to contact me and let me know it is fixed they say No. Again lack of communication. Unfortunately the only on the only other option is to go to DirectTV but I hear they are having problems also. I heard Dish and DirectTV was going to merge.

Oh lord! Just because an issue isn't fixed within your timeline, doesn't mean it's not being worked on. Other issues may have taken higher priorities than this. Also, most companies won't call you if an issue like this is resolved. They may address it on their website or even send a mass email if enough customers report an issue. It'll just be resolved .Have a great day everyone!

OMG - great comment but I don't think anybody gave them a timeline BUT most companies have the common courtsey to at least reply to the first person who reported the problem that they'll check it out.

I did find a work-around. I don't like it but it works. I plug the Dish into a TP-Link Kasa outlet. Then I have a routine that will turn the outlet off at 10:00pm. At 6:00am I have another routine that will turn the Kasa outlet on. The Dish will go through it's Startup Procedure and remain on. I don't see it complaining that I turned it off/on wrong. This happens the same why when we lose power

I bet Google and Dish are having a good laugh with this. Everybody says it doesn't work and they don't fix it. Makes you wonder why do people like Google if they don't support their community and don't fix things.

So, just for s#!ts and grins tonight, I tried adding DISH to my Google Home App AGAIN, but noticed it doesn't even show up in the list of vendors now.

Maybe there's finally some movement on this issue? Not holding my breath however!  Curious if any followers of this thread are seeing the same thing.

Regards,

You are correct.  I verified that Dish is no longer listed in the list of Services that work with Google.  I wonder if Dish will remove the setup under Control Dish though a Google Assistant device.

From what I see, Google solved the problem with "Dish not available, please try again" by completely removing Dish as an option.  Another chat group on this says that "3rd Party developer" was unresponsive.  I'm doubtful that I'll continue with dish much longer and they don't seem to care.

WOW! Why should Google help their community when it's easier to ignore them.I do have a work around. What I did was to plug the Dish into a Kasa Outlet and wrote 2 routines. One will shut the Dish off and the other to turn it on. BUT of course when you turn the Dish on it needs to go through its STARTUP routine, which takes a few minutes. But once it's done with the start up its on to the last channel you watched. Not sure Dish likes me turning it off that way then what they need to do is get with Google and fix it. I'd be concerned if you went somewhere else if Google supports them.I also have a Samsung Monitor which I have hooked up to my Security Cameras. I says it works with Smartthings but all I can do is shut it off with a routine. It won't turn on with a routine.Of course I have it set to HDMI1 and not the TV portion. Not sure how it works as a TV because we have DISH.

I believe Dish and Google are working out compatibility issues with the new Google home app and other Google devices working with their newer Hopper Plus W/Android TV built in. Compatibility takes time.

Sounds great but I'll believe it when I see that my apps have an update. I am curious though what makes you think that? I understand that it takes time. I worked in the Semiconductor industry for about 30 years and know when something was being developed, or a customer informed us that something wasn't working, we had to duplicate their issue to get it resolved. BUT before we release the unit we did intensive testing to insure it worked per specs AND try to think of how the end user would do things not in the specs.

@Dwntwnjeff wrote:

Why do you believe that?  I hope you're right, but I'm skeptical since—as others here and elsewhere have reported—Dish no longer appears as a "Works with Google" option in the Google Home app.  I understand that major software upgrades sometimes produce unintended consequences and that restoring compatibility can take time.  I hope that's actually what's happening, and I'm interested in learning what evidence you have that leads to your belief about cooperation between Dish and Google.

Since Dish was still available as an option for a quite a while (after the problem apparently started) and producing the "Could not reach DISH" and "Something went wrong" error messages but now is no longer available as a "Works with Google" option, my inclination would be to come to the opposite conclusion and believe that Google and Dish may have discontinued this integration.  I hope I'm wrong about that.

I solved the problem. I quit Dish 3 days ago - a 27 year Dish customer. Streaming 1080p on YTTV is beautiful. Our fixed wireless internet has gotten stronger and faster every year, thus allowing this not-so-fond farewell to Dish.

On my way out the door I'll leave you with this: this is the bold, stupid new America, and the way we handle problems now is, when all else fails, break out the looney conspiracies. That said, keep in mind that Google's YTTV and Dish are direct competitors in network tv. Good luck.

It's gone.  Here's my chat with Google support.

Me: My Google home was linked to Dish Network but stopped working. I unlinked the account and tried to re-link it, but it is not in the list of services. Has it been removed?

Google: Hey *****, thanks for reaching out. We're sad to say, but Dish Network is no longer available in our list of automation partners for Google Home. We understand how this can be inconvenient, but we’ll take this experience as feedback. You can also reach out to your device manufacturer (https://goo.gle/3NYOlAp) to check for alternatives.
