Family link add child on Google assistance devices throws WiFi error

Hi,

I'm having a real issue with Google nest, Google home and Google Family link integration.
I have Google nest hub and Google nest audio in my kitchen, I also have Google nest mini in all of my children rooms.
I want my children to be able to use Google assistance with voice recognition.
I searched the Google help pages and the instructions were to add the child to Google assistance on different devices through the Google Family link app.
When I am trying to do that (on any child object that was setup in Family link previously) I get stuck on the 'Searching for WiFi' telling me that there was a problem with the WiFi and I can't proceed.
I searched Google help communities (here) and I found several instructions and solutions, and none worked!!!

I cleared the Google Family Cache and data. I uninstalled Google Family Link, I restarted my phone - it didn't work.
I removed all Google app updates (with the 3 dots from the settings->apps area), restarted the phone, forced stop everything, reinstalled the updates form the Google play store - it didn't work.
I tried all previous explained steps om my wife's Android phone - it didn't work.
I got a new phone from a friend, setup my account, installed all updates, installed Google Family Link, everything was installed from scratch - guess what, it didn't work.
Google developers.... you have a serious bug here!!

I wanted to use that feature, so that when I leave the children by themselves at home, they'll be able to call me on Google Duo or switch the lights on/off from any Google nest device! That's the whole reason I equipped the whole house with nest devices.

I just want to stress, that I'm connected to the WiFi and I am online and connectivity-wise, It's all good!! (See picture)

I have the exact same issue and it is so frustrating. I upgraded to YouTube Premium for the kids as well so they could play music on their Nest Mini's without stopping me from listening to other music on my phone whilst walking the dog, but if they can't connect to the devices, that won't work.

Indeed this is so frustrating. As a developer, it's so easy to fix.. just follow the bug trail. Let me access to the code, I'll fix it 🙂

Same problem here. The so-called fix of deleting updates and then reinstalling the updates does nothing either. This is clearly a fault that Google simply can't be bothered to fix. Shame on them.

fixed it.... reset the phone, installed google home from scratch, solved it
