Full remote unavailable. Make sure your streaming device has the latest software.

My iPhone has lost the ability to work as a remote control for my Android TV. I get the error message Full remote unavailable. Make sure your streaming device has the latest software.  Software on both my iPhone and Android TV are latest versions. I have rebooted and reset both devices. This function worked until a few weeks ago. I have seen that others have had the same problem but I have not seen any solutions. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out. Do you have a Chromecast with Google TV or just an Android TV? In the meantime, please check this support website article to see the other option that you can do and to learn more about virtual remote.

I have a JBL Link Bar running Android TV. I read the article but no solution there for me.
