Google Home app does not put an icon on my iphone. I can only open it in the app store.

Iphone 6s, latest IOS. I have tried to download the Google Home app repeatedly on my phone but it never creates a new icon, I always have to go to the app store to open it. (It may have put an icon the first time and I removed it but, if so, since then, nothing.)
