Google home not connecting to cameras while on LTE

The Google home app works perfect on wifi, once on cellular data (iphone XR), it is unable to load the cameras. I still get notifications, but cannot connect to the cameras or see the history. Once back on wifi, it works great. Cellular data is enabled for the app. I removed the app and reinstalled.

Hey john27,

Thanks for reaching out.

To make sure, are you using a Nest Camera? If so, was it working before? Is it only happening when you're connecting to your camera?

Cellular data can vary based on multiple factors such as the distance between the device from a carrier's tower, interference, or your data plan. Could you try using a different phone to see if you'll get the same result.

Best,

Alex

Yes, I have two nest camera and one door bell. Everything was working about a month ago. The door bell camera in the nest app works fine. It’s just the normal cameras with the google home app. These cameras are installed on another iPhone and it works great.  The issue is isolated to the google home app on an iPhone XR.

Hello john27,

Could you try toggling off/on your cellular data on your phone? Once done, reboot your phone for a few minutes. Also, make sure your iPhone XR's software is updated.

Thanks,

Alex

Hey john27,

Try these additional steps:

  • Go to your phone's Settings > General > Date and Time.
  • Tap Set Automatically  toggle it off and then back on.
  • Make sure that the timezone, date, and time are correct.
  • Turn on privacy settings. Settings >Privacy > Location > Services > Nest.

Best,

Alex

Hey john27,

I'm sorry for the delay. Could you tell us the iOS version you're using? What is the mobile app version? When did you first encounter the issue? Does this happen often? Keep us posted.

Thanks,

Archie
