I'm sorry to hear that both the Google Home and Nest app are giving you trouble! I can understand why'd you be frustrated if neither of them are working as intended. I'd love to help you figure out what's happening, and since you prefer to add the devices to the Nest app, I'll help you troubleshoot that first. I'll just need to ask you some questions, so I can understand the situation better:
What type of Nest Thermostat do you own?
Do you get any kind of error message when you try to add the thermostat to the Nest app?
Are you connected to a Wi-Fi network or are you using cellular data when you have this issue?
Are you signing in with Google or a non-migrated Nest account?
For now, I would check out and follow the steps in this article, then note and tell me where in the process you get stuck, as well as let me know what specific error message you get, if any. I look forward to your response!
