We have a range of Matter-certified devices, and one of the key reasons for adopting the Matter standard was its promise of local control without relying on the internet. However, when using Google, we are unable to control any of our Matter devices locally.
We specifically purchased the Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) as a Thread Border Router to manage our Matter-Thread devices offline. Unfortunately, the Nest Hub (2nd Gen) appears to require an active internet connection for control, which defeats the purpose of choosing Matter for its local operation capabilities.
Is there a way to control Matter devices locally using the Google ecosystem, without depending on the internet?
