Message "there is a problem communicating with Google

I'm trying to reconnect my KNC  smart plugs.  They show in the main Home page,  but it says they are not connected to a 'home'.  When I try to move them into a home, I receive the message: "there is a problem communicating with Google. Please retry later.". Well later doesn't come. 

I removed and readded the plugs to KMC, which says I'm linked to Google.  But I can't get Home to recognize these plugs, like it used to.   I did uninstall and reinstall  Home.  Any other suggestions?

I understand this can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? Have you tried doing a factory reset on the device? Also have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? I would also suggest unlinking and relinking the devices from the app. 

Please let me know.
