Migrated but I cannot access Nest Account

DrMj

I need to reset the password to my original Nest.com account. I have been trying to do this prior to and after Google purchasing Nest.com. Each time I request the link, the email is not sent to my email address. I cannot reset my thermostat because it is connected to the Nest app I used prior to the Google required migration.  The Nest thermostat is now useless. If Google cannot send me the link to gmail account to reset my Nest account then I will be forced to purchase the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium. Wirecutter has rated the Ecobee as #1.

You shouldn't need access to the account the thermostat was setup with to reset it. Try these steps:

  1. On the thermostat, press it to open the quick view menu and tap the Settings cog.
  2. Select Reset, then select All Settings.
  3. Once reset, on the Nest app home screen, tap the Settings cog.
  4. Tap Add product. The app will switch to a camera view to scan the thermostat’s QR code.
  5. On the thermostat, press it to open the quick view menu and tap the Settings cog.
  6. Select QR code. Your thermostat will show you a unique QR code to scan with the app. If it doesn't, tap Continue without scanning in the app and select Get entry key on your thermostat instead.
  7. Follow the remaining steps in the Nest app.

Jake,

Thanks for checking back with me. I just responded to davidking. I hope the reset will disconnect Nest from the Nest app I can no longer access and make it available for the new app.
