Move devices from Nest to Google home error - Account in use

I tried to migrate my Nest account to a Google Account with the understanding that the devices would then should up in Google Home, but I get an error that says the Google Account is already in use. What am I doing wrong?

It means that the Google Account to which you are trying to migrate is already being used to manage Google Nest devices, and is therefore "linked" to a Nest Account. This can happen if you've already been using that Google Account to log into the Google Home app to manage Nest Wi-Fi, or Nest Hubs, or other Google Nest products.

Google Nest has a workaround for this, in the post below, under "Troubleshoot account migration issues" | "Error message: Google Account is already linked with another Nest account".

Yes, I knew about that option. Unfortunately, I need a 40-foot ladder to reach some of the devices. I was hoping there was a better option.
