The nest is showing offline in the android app as well as the web based interface. I checked the actual nest device and it shows online and connected. I can see it connected via the Google Wifi app and just now I opened google home and see two nest devices one show offline and the other can connect to the nest device.

So what do I do my thermostat is online seems to be working fine but the app says it’s been gone for five hours and the other thermostats are showing just fine what do I do everybody talks back-and-forth what does Google do about this?

I am not used to this kind of stuff. You sell $1 trillion worth of product and instead of having someone to talk to you let everybody that buys your stuff figure out how to get it to operate when it does not work in a community? This makes no sense to me is there not a service technician somewhere that I can call or a software technician that I can call someone please help

Think this is the killer for me too, clearly something has changed as we’re all experiencing the same problem. And maybe there are some ‘workarounds’ by playing with router settings but why should we have to tinker with settings that may or may not work? The silence from Google on this is terrible. I won’t be purchasing anything else from them for sure.

I never got any answers. But finally found a fix on my on. On the app, I removed the thermostat. Then I added back as if was new, and went through all of the steps.  It’s working now.

Can  you do this remotely or do you have to be where the thermostat actually is?

Hi.  Im also experiencing the same problem.  Ive tried everything recommended without any joy.  Has there been any update on the app software fix

I created a separate guest wifi on my router, connected the thermostat to that and it's been working correctly for several weeks now. Only thing that has worked long term.

Is it still online? Did you do a 5ghz or 2.4ghz guest network?

Still online now a few months.  5 ghz

Did you use encryption? If so what type?

It looks like this is happening with a lot of people. I've had this issue since Dec 2021, and I believe it started sometime when Nest started with a new program and new UI update (Nest Renew) that happened around that time. I think the developers need to take a look at the new Nest Renew firmware update which might be causing this issue. What's also frustrating is, even for times they were connected, I no longer see any Energy History. They're all empty and saying 'No Usage' every day. Very frustrating.

I’m having a weird issue.  My Google home app says that my Google Wifi is offline, but yet all of my devices are still able to surf online.  There is no way to do a speed test via the app, but I can do a Speedtest via another app.  Also I can’t test the mesh status.  This is such a strange occurrence.  Any thoughts?  Please help.

What I did was restart Internet router and extenders (ifs you have any), restart thermostat then restart phone and it worked. Hope this helps.

Thanks stephenb but I have tried all of those and it all works properly for a few hours and then my Home app loses control again and it stays lost until I reset the thermostat ...again.

I have the same issue on my iPhone.

My Google nest thermostat is showing connection strong but when I go to the Google Home app it’s saying off-line. I reset it once it worked for about two hours and now it’s giving me the same issue. Can anyone help me with this issue?

it seems that this is an on going issue and  not consistent answer has been share. how can we get direct help with this. the issue is with the google home app not the thermostat itself.

I want to use my the month or turn back all night the monitor

My app has been showing offline for weeks. I reset the thermostat and deleted the app and reinstalled. It worked for a couple of hours then went back to offline. Thermostat was online. I gave up. This morning just for the hell of it I opened the app and it was showing online! There is no rhyme or reason to this. I am ready to rip this POS off the wall and get something else.

I’m going to leave comments on all product reviews online for the nest that details these issues. Google are not giving us an answer with this so maybe the only way we can make them listen is to inform future customers of the fact that the nest doesn’t work as advertised. I’m trying to turn my nest temp down manually but because the nest and my phone app are not in sync, my phone app keeps kicking in and out and setting the temp back up again. Having a constant fight to set the temp where I want it! The nest is worse than manual thermostats we used to use in the 90s and I would say now pretty useless with these app issues

I am having the same issue.  I bought two nest thermostats less than a year ago.  about two months.  I only have an issue with one of them.  I re-start couple of times.  I removed it from the network and re-add it again.  it works for about 4 hours then it goes offline.  I replace the batteries couple of time with brand new batteries v. 3.3(good)

Well...I will add my voice to this.  Probably a waste of time, but if there are this many people posting here about this problem, think of how many other clueless and/or lazy people are having the problem and just living with it.  My problem is in a vacation home 3 hours away from my main home.  All my devices are Google/Nest devices (oh, except a couple of Govee smart plugs).  The Home app reports my Nest router and one of my 2 points are offline, but my 2nd point is working fine.  Weird huh?  And fortunately my 2 Nest Thermostats, My Nest Camera, and my Nest x Yale lock seem to be working fine.  I have no problem connecting to my camera via the Home app and seeing live video.  So  clearly my router is NOT offline.  Duh!  If I was at my vacation home I could do all kinds of troubleshooting and resetting and removing and adding, etc.  But I am very reluctant to do too much remotely for fear of stopping these important devices from working.  I find it incredible to Google remains completely silent about all of this.  Do they think we're all idiots.  Seems like I'm gonna have to start bad-mouthing Google and Nest everywhere I can.

Same problem! Vacation home in another state! Whole reason for getting these devices is to use them remotely and feel confident about it...not the issue! I too am afraid to uninstall anything worried about loosing all the info I need without being able to go to the home! We have had this for over 2 years now and it has worked fine until November of 2021 when from what I read is when they did updates to the app. Please fix this problem or we will be forced to remove it and put in another brand!

I think we should start a law suite against them.

has anyone found a solution to this!?
I've done all the steps, resets, IOS, app, everything and it still doesn't work!

Please help!!

The easiest solution -albeit a very temporary solution - is to RESTART the thermostat. Not reset - that erases all the temp settings and scheduling from the app. But restarting the thermostat reconnects it within about 7 minutes and stays connected for a few days.

Of course this only works if you’ve access to the device. For those with it in 2nd homes, this won’t work, obviously.

I’m having the same issue as everyone else and I see no answers to the problem. My app says off line to my nest thermostat, my the thermostat itself says it’s online. It’s  frustrating

Same issue, it's been going on for weeks. Weather not working. Says it's offline on the app, but wifi connection strong, battery fine. I've reset the nest and updated the app.  Nothing has worked.

I have the same issue since 2020 and never get resolved. They need to do something

Same issue home app shows offline but nest thermostat online working

two new thermostats installed 10 days ago

App installed ipad and iPhone

My thermostats are connected to wifi, but show up  as offline on the google home app.

I can fix the problem by restarting my home wifi.

not sure why this happens will plan to contact my wifi provider to see if they have a solution

FYI I don’t get any message or email from the nest thermostat stating it is offline so i think the problem is the

wifi, not the thermostat.  You can check the thermostat to see if its connected to wifi by tapping the side and selecting settings then network

this will show connected then the network name and the signal strength

I think I found a solution! I started researching (Googling) other thermostats and talked to my handyman about installing a new standard one when I buy it (as we were standing next to the Google Speaker) and lo and behold - it’s stayed connected for over two weeks!  Coincidence?

No answers here. We all have the same issue. WiFi shows “connected” but “offline” in app. Batteries are new. WTF?
