Nest app asks for credentials when connecting to Google Home

Hello,

My Google Nest Thermostat product do not show up in the Google Home app.

The issue is when I try and add the Nest devices to my Google Home app (via the 'Works with Google' option), when I select Nest it takes me to a login screen, but I have no login for Nest because I use my Google Home account for this. Trying my Google login doesn't work because this option does not exist. Trying 'forgot my password' doesn't work (no link is sent to my email).

When trying to add it in the Google Home app with Set up device -> New device (instead of 'Works with Google') it opens the Nest app. Manual adding fails with "Something went wrong". Both the QR code and ID code do not add my Thermostat in Google Home.

The Nest protect is working and is connected to the Nest app. However, I am not able to have my Google Nest Thermostat in my Google Home app, nor control it with voice control.

Solution:
Remove the Nest Thermostat from the Nest app
Go to Google Home: Add device > New device > Select the correct structure > Next >Thermostat > Other Nest Thermostats > Now it redirects you to the Nest App finally.
Next -> Add the Thermostat and to get the Entry key from the display of the Thermostat

@krabbedoelie

If your Google Nest Thermostat is present in the Google Nest app, then it should also be present automatically in the Google Home app if you are logging into both apps with the same account and are accessing the same Google Nest "home". You do not separately "add" a Google Nest device to the Google Home app if it is already present in the Google Home app, and the "Works with Google" option is for installing/connecting to non-Google devices that are capable of working with Google.

Hi @MplsCustomer

The Nest Thermostat in the Nest App is visible, but not visible in the Google Home app. I use the same Google (gmail.com) accounts in both apps. The Home locations are identical, yet not syncing the Nest thermostat. Could this be part of a bigger issue the customer care is not aware of? @krabbedoelie

I don't know.  It seems other customers have had similar issues, but I don't know if there's a clear resolution.

Is there anyone from Google who can help out here?

Just had a Google Nest Learning Thermostat installed today. Having the same issue - it is not showing up in the Google Home app. Cannot add it either, since it asks for a QR code or 6 digit code - I don't have these. It appears I would have to get the installer to come back and take the device off the wall, to read the codes from the back.

@Roarers

If you have installed the Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app and are logging onto the Google Nest app and the Google Home app with the same Google account, and are accessing the same Google Nest "home" on both, the Nest Learning Thermostat should appear automatically in the Google Home app. (You cannot add it separately.). You could try signing off of the Google Nest app and signing back on.

Thanks. I know that it should appear. It doesn't. Signing out and signing back in has no effect.

Doesn't work for me either.
