So, I have this weird situation - Nest support seems unable to help, and recommended asking the community.
I have a Nest account which I set up using my old telephone number (I still have the telephone, including the number). A few weeks ago, I updated 2FA on my Google account to my new number. In my Google account, also the recovery number now is set to my new number. So basically, as far as I am aware, my Google account is not tied anywhere to my old number anymore.
Now comes the weird thing; If I want to login to the Nest app on my phone, with 2FA, it first uses my new number for SMS confirmation (all fine), but then also uses/asks for my new number, and also sends an SMS to that number. I am only able to access the app if I complete both.
This is on my phone. If I login to the Nest web application, it only seems to ask the new/current number (that I associated with 2FA).
I have absolutely no idea what causes this, it seems like the Nest DB/cache still associates my account with my old number, but I do not seem to be able to check or change this - as, for any action, I am directly referred to my Google account.
I am desperate looking for a solution, as this is becoming pretty annoying (and, at one point, I want to get rid of my old phone 😉
Many thanks!
