No AUX Heat usage history in Google Home App

I have a 4th Gen Nest Learning Thermostat which does not allow you to use the legacy Nest app. I can see that the old Nest app had two tones of orange to show when the aux heat was being used. The Google Home app does not do this. From what I can tell the only way to see if your 4th Gen Nest is using aux heat is to download your Google Home app history from takeout.google.com and manually dig through the json file.

This missing feature resulted in an enormous power bill because the heat pump balance was overusing the AUX heater without my knowledge.

Hi PatrickBryant,

Thank you for contacting us. I understand you would prefer a different color indicator for auxiliary heat usage on your Google Nest thermostat, similar to other models. I'm happy to assist you.

I apologize, but the 4th generation Google Nest thermostat does not feature a distinct color indicator for auxiliary heat. I recommend submitting your feedback, as your comments are valuable for improving our devices and adding new features.

Additionally, please visit our support article on emergency heat for heat pump systems, where you can find instructions on manually controlling auxiliary heat and observing its status.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Manuel
