Reolink Doorbell not showing video stream on google home app

Hey Nest community,

After contacting Google support about this issue, I was directed to try asking my question here. I have a Reolink Wi-Fi doorbell that is linked to the Google Home app through the Reolink integration. On the first day, I could view the stream through the Google Home app, but now it just shows a grey screen. When I try to access it through the 'camera' button or by choosing the device on the device page, I see a grey screen. I have tried to reset the camera, relink my account to Google Home and re-install the app, however I keep getting the same issue. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks 😁

Hi denisthemenis24,

Thanks for posting here in the Community. I am sorry that you are experiencing issues with your third party doorbell video stream (live feed) feature in the Google Home App. But no need to worry, help is here.

I understand that you already tried basic troubleshooting, here are some additional things to consider:

Network Connectivity:

  1. Wi-Fi Strength: Ensure your doorbell has a strong and stable Wi-Fi signal. Try moving the Wi-Fi router closer to determine if the live feed is improved due to signal strength.
  2. 2.4 GHz Network: While some third party doorbells might support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, it's generally recommended to connect them to a 2.4 GHz network for better compatibility. Check your router settings and make sure you're connecting the doorbell to the 2.4 GHz band (if available).

Google Home App:

  1. Google Home App Update: Ensure you're running the latest version of the Google Home app on your phone or tablet. Updates often contain bug fixes and improvements related to smart home integrations.
  2. Re-link third party Account: Try un-linking and re-linking your external account within the Google Home app. This can sometimes refresh the connection and resolve linking issues.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

  1. Manufacturer Support: If none of the above solutions work, contacting maker support is recommended. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps based on your doorbell model and any error codes you might be encountering.

You can check the following details to correctly Connect third-party smart home devices in the Google Home app (in case you remove them). You can also check the following articles (in case it helps because it depends on the doorbell model) if the Video doesn't play, pauses or skips or to Troubleshoot delays in streaming video.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,

Mario
