'Something went wrong. Can't set your current phone location' error when trying to enable Presence

Hi- I've been searching for any similar error messages but nothing is coming up and everything I've tried to troubleshoot has also not fixed this.

'Something went wrong. Can't set your current phone location' comes up any time I try to enable the Presence setting over the last two days.

I've tried:

  • Deleting the Home app and reinstalling it several times
  • Shutting off my phone and restarting several times
  • Removing the devices within the Home app and adding them back in
  • Making sure the 'aways allow' location is enabled
  • Making sure Google Assistant has my correct address as 'home'
  • Leaving the 'home' and rejoining it again
  • Physically leaving my house and checking when I get back home to see if it needed a change of location
  • Updated my phone to iOs 16.6

The error message itself is all but useless in communicating what is going on. If anyone has any solutions or information that would be very appreciated.

Hi bootonk,

Thanks for reaching out and for the information you’ve shared. A few questions: What Nest devices do you own? Were there any recent changes to your phone's settings before it started? Do you have other home members added? If so, are they getting the same message? What is the Google Home app version installed on your phone? If possible, try using another phone to isolate this.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Juni
