Stop Switching to Away

Hi,

I have the Google Home and Nest apps. On GH I have my google router, wifi point, one nest thermostat, and two Hue lights. On Nest, I have one Protect smoke detector.

On GH Presence Sensing I have everything off (allow GH to use my phone location, nest, wifi, and protect all off). In Nest under Home/Away assist, I have ‘No’ selected for both my phone and the Protect device.

My account still keeps switching to Away, even though I’m home. Any idea what’s going on?

A quick question: are you the only home member on your Home app? If there are other members in your Home app, make sure to have them disable the Home/Away assist.

There was, however I removed them and it is still automatically switching to away.

Hey Makushr1,

 

Thanks for getting back to us. I know this hasn't been easy for you. To know more about this, does your same account signed in to a different mobile device? Your phone uses geo-fence to detect whether you’re home, and it can only use it from one app at a time. When you enable geo-fence in one app, it automatically gets disabled in the other app. If you’re using the Nest app, learn about Home/Away Assist instead. So try checking your other devices and make sure that home and away or presence sensing is disabled.

The other person is no longer under the account (Home - Settings - Household - only showing myself).

I have all settings off for home/away - I.e., in GH, my Nest Thermostat and Nest Wifi do not detect if I’m home, and in Nest app my 2 Protects do not sense if I’m home. Also, the function to ‘allow this home to use the phones location’ is turned off. 

no idea why it keeps switching, when everything is off. There should be a very simple toggle to say ‘have Goggle automatically switch home/away’.

Hi Makushr1,

 

Thanks for providing this information. I would suggest you reset your Nest devices to the factory default. After the reset, remove and re-add them to the app. Let us know how it goes.
