Hi Henrik1,

Thanks for posting and apologies for the late response. Here are some steps below that you can try.

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings Remove device Remove.

You can check out this link for more additional steps.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Nikki

Thanks but the old/previously deleted devices that appear in the default device list don't appear in the home app so can't be deleted as you describe.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help Mlabrador.

@Henrik1, Nickp104, if the old devices can't be deleted from the Home app, that means the devices are not available anymore, right? If you can remember, what Nest devices do you have? Have you tried going to your account settings to remove the devices there? If not, then open this link to remove/unlink your devices from your account and tell me how it goes.

Best,

Dan

Thanks Dan. I have unlinked the devices and they don't appear in the devices list until you want to make a default speaker. Then you see all the previously named speakers which are obviously hanging around somewhere because they get in the way of voice commands.

Hi Nickp104,

Thanks for trying the steps. Have you already cleared the cache and data of the Home app?

Hi Nickp104,

Thanks for the response. Check the steps below on how to clear the cache and data of the Home app.

Android

  1. Open device Settings, and select Apps.
  2. Find the app you want to clear app data for, tap it, and select Storage.
  3. Tap Clear cache to delete all cached data for the selected app.
  4. Repeat the process for other apps to continue clearing hidden app cache.

iPhone

  1. Open the ‘Settings’ app on your iPhone
  2. Scroll through the Settings and find the app you want to clear the cache of
  3. Select the app and once again scroll to the bottom of the page
  4. Now here you’ll find a toggle named ‘Clear temp data on next start’
  5. Turn it on and launch that particular app from the homescreen to get rid of its cache

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Juni
