There was a problem connecting to the Nest service - Can't sign into Nest App

Over the weekend I was in the Nest app and removed the Nest Secure devices since they no longer function. I do still have a Nest camera, thermostat, and 2 smoke detectors. After I removed the devices I got logged out.  When I click on "Sign in with Google" and click on my google account, I get the message "there was a problem connecting to the Nest service...". Not sure what the issue is. I can log into my Nest account through a browser with no problem, just not the app.  I even tried logging in on an old Android device and get the same error.  I can still control the thermostat and camera through Google Home, but the smoke detectors haven't migrated to Home yet. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Not sure what else to do.

Hi @Kinger2222,

Thanks for posting here in the community. Sorry to hear you're unable to sign into your Nest app. Help's here!

I appreciate you trying to troubleshoot this! To help further, could you tell me the make and model of your phone device?

In the meantime, here are some suggestions:

  • Check for software updates on your phone. Outdated software versions can break app functionality.
  • If applicable, clear the Nest App cache on your phone.
  • Test if the inconvenience persists on both Wi-Fi and cellular data.
  • Try restarting your mobile phone.

If you're able to sign in on one device but not another, check the settings and menu options for the device that's giving you the inconvenience. Certain browser, network, phone, or router settings may be preventing you from signing in. You can learn more in this article: Troubleshoot Nest app sign-in issues.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
