Two different apps - Nest & Google Home

SweetOnWine

Why are there still two different apps, after all this time of Nest being under the Google umbrella. I am frustrated that I still need to have the two, especially as my old nest thermostats only seem to really listen to the Nest app and my new Google Nest thermostat was only willing to load on the Google Home app, but not on the Nest app whatsoever.

It seems silly that they all cannot just function on the same app just as well, and that I have to have the Nest app to have any of my google cameras to work. It cannot be that hard to get this moved over after what, 3 years now.

I am an avid Google supporter and have no intention of changing systems, but this is why people choose Alexa over Google....you guys need to SIMPLFY it all.

Hey SweetOnWine,

Thanks for posting and I understand how  you feel. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app.

Keep an eye out on this Community page or follow our social channels for news and updates.

Best,
