Hey SofReg,

Sorry if you're having trouble connecting your LG ThinQ on your Google Home, let's check what's going on.

A few checklist:

  • Make sure your phone, LG ThinQ devices and Google Home are connected to the same network and within 15-20 feet of your router.
  • Make sure your LG ThinQ devices are properly set up and working on its native app.
  • If everything is checked, please give these steps a try:

Give these steps a try:

  • Uninstall and reinstall your Google Home.
  • Try using a different phone.
  • Reboot your device and router to refresh the connection.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Alex

Hello Azarco,

Thank you for your response.

I've given those steps a try but it still not working.

I can control my LG TV with LG ThinQ App without any problem. But Google Home cannot link LG ThinQ App.

I've searched and it seems so many people have the same problem but no one could solve it yet.

I guess it's a communication or programming problem between Google Home and the LG ThinQ App!

Do you have any other solution we might try?

Thank you!

Hey all,

Sorry for the trouble.

Try linking your LG ThinQ on the Google Assistant app ( not the Google Home app). Try saying" OK google, talk to LG or ask LG" then, follow the next steps.

You can also give these steps a try:

Go into your TV settings. Gear Icon (Settings) on remote > All Settings > Connection > Link To Devices for Voice Control > Google Assistant. From there just sign into your Google account and follow the rest of the instructions. It will also give you a bunch of examples you can use to control your TV through your Google Home assistants.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Alex

The first option doesn't work, if i give the command to google assistent it only gives search results. Are there any other commands i can give?

The second option doesn't work either, i have not got the option on my tv that you mentioned.

Hey SofReg,

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should but since the URL portal used to link your devices with Google Assistant is managed by LG, we'd suggest reaching out to their support team for additional assistance.

Let us know if you have other questions.

Best,

Alex

Didn't work...

The guide says that i have to open an app called 'set up tv for google'. I don't have that app on my tv and i can't download it either.

Hey Azarco,

Thanks for your answer. Im sorry to say that those steps didn't work either.

When i ask my assistant with voice to talk to LG it shows me a Red LG Icon and when i click on it i got a message from my google assistant saying: We could not find what you are looking for at the moment, please try another time.

For the second steps i couldn't find those settings on my LG Oled C1

Same problem here, troubleshooting options don't work. Have this issue for a year now...

Extra info: all my tv's are connected to the lg thinq app and this app works fine, so it can't be a problem that is related to my wifi at home.

I tried changing the region and had no luck. This is so frustrating. Another problem my Google account is linked to the India region whereas I'm in the UAE where the TV doesn't have India listed as one of the regions. Not sure about the way forward, does it make sense to change to another country and try?

Hey ChristopheD,

Make sure that your device's language and region is matched on what you have set on your Google Account. Tried changing them and let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Still no luck. I would like to understand if the Google Home services are available in the UAE region?

Hey ChristopheD,

Since Google Home or Google Nest speakers and displays aren't officially supported in UAE, some features may or may not work. Our team is always looking forward to bring more devices to different regions

Which Gulf region is it supported. Accordingly, I can change my country on the TV to get it up and running.

Hi ChristopheD,

Thanks for responding.

Listed on this link are the countries where the speakers are supported. Even though you can completely set up the Google speakers in your country, other features of it might not be available to the countries where Google speakers was not launched. Let me know if you have additional questions.

Hi ChristopheD,

Changing the language on your devices or app is not a guaranteed workaround. We's suggest to contact LG support so that they can explain to you the feature that can work on your country.
