My OnHub is the center of my Google Wifi Mesh network in my home. Now I get an email saying that this device will no longer be supported - that's fair enough, it's older and I get that. However, apparently that also means I will no longer be able to use the google app to control this device. It was already ONLY controllable by the app in the first place which was stupid enough on it's on; now there will be no way to control this device which I still use as my mesh network base station and is working perfectly fine. I don't have any devices with the newer wifi version(s) so I don't have any reason to upgrade for the moment but I will now be LOCKED OUT OF MY OWN DEVICE because it relies on an app to control it and the owners of this app have decided this for me. This is unacceptable and I will not be buying another product that is controlled by the google app. Google has too long of a history of cutting and running on products and features.

Google's "value add" proposition is enough incentive for me to continue with their hardware products, even in light of some very few product discontinuations. I have yet to have one of their products discontinued, but then I don't use "onHub".

Just to add, the onhub will work through out all of next year , so at least there is some decent notice. Sucks I know, I was in the same boat when they got rid of the cloud print service and inbox as well, both were perfect, but alas technology does not last forever.

Hi, jcox7483.
I am sorry that you're frustrated with the change and I can totally understand that frustration. As products age and the product lines grow, there are often times when some devices need to be retired. I'm hoping that the offered resolution when the OnHub devices are retired works out for you. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Thanks.
