relinking to Pandora

Google Nest speakers stopped recognizing my Pandora subscription as premium. I unlinked Pandora and attempted to relink and I get the message "something went wrong. Try again" trying again results in the same error.

Hey SeaWilliam,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you — let's check this out.

Make sure to turn on Local Network Access for the Google Home app on your phone settings. Here's how: Privacy > Local Network > Google Home app. Try reinstalling your Google Home and Google Assistant app to make sure they're updated. If the issue persist, give these steps a try:

  • Uninstall the Spotify app on your phone.
  • Once uninstalled, try linking your Spotify account again on the Google Home app.
  • If you successfully link your music accounts, you can install the app back on your phone.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Alex

Hey there,

Bumping in to check if you had the chance to try the steps above? Let us know by updating this thread, and the Community will be happy to lend a hand.

The system works with Spotify and worked with Pandora before I tried to refresh the Pandora link. Google did not recognize Pandora as a premium account. I have tried your first recommendations, but an confused about the request to unlink Spotify to solve the Pandora problem?

Hey SeaWilliam,

Sorry for the confusion. The steps above are intended for your Pandora account. Let me post it again:

  • Uninstall the Pandora app on your phone.
  • Once uninstalled, try linking your Pandora account on the Google Home app.
  • If you successfully link your music accounts, you can install the app back on your phone.
  • If the issue persists, try also reinstalling your Google Home app.

Keep us posted!

Best,

Alex

Hi SeaWilliam,

Awesome! Glad to hear that Alex was able to help you. In the meantime, do you still have other questions and concerns?

I appreciate your help here, Alex.

Best,

Jennifer

When I am listening to music on Pandora, I like to specify one artist, and do not want their station mix. It works sometimes sometimes not. How should I word my request? I have the Premium Pandora subscription.

Hey there,

When listening music from Pandora, you'll get a station of songs inspired by or similar to the song, album, artist or genre you selected. You can't request specific songs, artists or albums. Ads will play occasionally between songs. You may check this support website article to see more information about listening music from Pandora.

Thanks,

Jennifer

The concern above remains. The reply was that I cannot specify an artist or song. In fact I can on both Pandora and Spotify...just not consistently. Some time I ger the response playing George Jones and sometime I get "playing a station George Jones". I pay for the Premium features on both services. Perhaps hit or miss is the best I can get, but perhaps not. Any help will be welcome.

Hi folks,

@ Azarco, JenniferV, thank you so much for your help.

@SeaWilliam, I do hope that you’ve checked the article given above. That will explain everything on why you’re not able to play a specific song or artist. You'll get a station of songs instead, but cannot request for specifics. Although the majority of the songs in their collection will be eligible to be played without restrictions, you may experience a portion of songs that are unavailable or labeled "Radio Only" due to our current licensing restrictions.

As you’ve said, this is a hit or miss depending on the song and artist you’re trying to play. All this is how the integration between Google and Pandora agreed upon. Once Pandora gives Google full access like Spotify and YouTube, then that would be a different story.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan
