Hey everyone,

We're excited to announce Nest Renew is now available for all owners of qualified Nest Thermostats. Nest Renew was previously available through an invite-only beta, and we’re thrilled to welcome more users.

Nest Renew from Google makes it easy to support clean energy, right from your home.* It works with your compatible Nest thermostat to help you automatically prioritize your usage to times when energy is cleaner** or less expensive.***

Nest Renew is free to join, and helps you track the positive difference you’re making to the environment and communities across the country. And for $10 a month, extend your positive impact even further by matching the fossil fuel electricity used in your home with enough clean energy to cover the average U.S. household.**** Because when we each do a little, it can add up to a lot.

Compatible Nest thermostats, connected to a Google account:

  • Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen)
  • Nest Thermostat E
  • The newest Nest Thermostat (sold separately)

See your impact.

Watch the positive effects of supporting clean energy add up. Get Leafs and regular reports that help you track your actions and impact over time. When you reach a Leaf milestone, you can extend your positive impact by directing Nest Renew funds to nonprofit partners.  By helping support clean energy, you’re now also helping to steer our support of community projects around the country.

Learn more about Nest Renew on our Help Center. Already joined? Let us know what you think in our Thermostat forum, and keep an eye out for more Nest Renew content in the community in the coming weeks.

* Adjustments only shift electricity usage from your heating and cooling.

** Only available in areas served by major continental US grids, see here

*** Only available for customers on certain electric utility time-of-use rates (check availability).

**** Learn how this is done with renewable energy credits. Nest Renew will be purchasing RECs from wind and solar plants in the United States. The majority of these RECs will come from our flagship project Bethel Wind in Castro County, TX, with the remainder coming from US solar.
