2nd Gen Doorbell chime adapter not working

I have a mechanical chime which works well with the 2nd gen google doorbell. When the chime attachment is install it will not work no matter what options I change on the app. Any thoughts? Just not use the chime attachment?

Talked with google support, it’s the chime puck that’s bad. Unfortunately they don’t have any more to send out under warranty. Luckily I’m still within my return period so I returned and replaced with a new one which works just fine. Moral of the story is bad chime pucks and lots of them.

A number of customers in this forum have reported defective "chime pucks" with the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell:

Interesting comment, and obviously not true FROM THEM.  I called with this same problem yesterday and one is being, actually has already been, shipped.  Just got an email with Fedex tracking.  How could they possibly not have them to send out, especially under warranty.  WORSE CASE they just need to open a box in their warehouse.  Sometimes these companies just amaze me.   I have an even better one about Amazon but it doesn't belong here.

It's good you could return yours.

Maybe they just didn’t want to send me one since I was within a return period (3rd party purchase)? Save the inventory for warranty claims?

You're not alone by a longshot.  Here's my post:   https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Mechanical-Doorbell-Puck-Problem-for-Ge...

Definately a puckin'  problem.  They are sending me a new one but I'm betting it will do the same unless they send the older 4-wire version.

EDIT:  They suggested "I consult with a pro installer" not knowing "I are one"  if (retired) electrical engineer counts.    😀
