2nd Generation Nest Cam (Wired) will not connect to Chromecast

Hello,

Voice commands or automations will not trigger casting from a wired 2nd Generation Nest camera to a chromecast. I have these working with many other cameras.

How do I fix this functionality?

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Cyglocks,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, do you have multiple Nest Cameras around your house? Is that the only Nest Camera who's having a problem? If yes, then I would suggest you try restarting it and check its behavior. Keep us posted.

Emerson

Hello team,

This issue has still not been resolved.

My devices:

  • NVIDIA shield with latest Chromecast updates
  • Various Google Home/Nest Hub Devices
  • Wired Nest Cam Gen2

None of the cast commands work to cast this camera to a TV. Please advise.

Thanks,

I have restarted, and reset all devices. The camera is mounted to the ceiling so it is hard to reset.

Hi everyone,

@Cyglocks, thanks for getting back to us. We would recommend you to reset your Nest Camera to the factory default. I know it's hard but the issue seems to be specific to only one Nest Camera.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Locate the reset hole on the bottom of the camera head. It’s between the power cord and the camera neck.
  2. Insert a paper clip, thumbtack or similar into the hole. Press and hold down.
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be solid yellow. When the camera begins resetting, you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  3. Release the button. Your camera will restore to its factory settings.
  4. After the factory reset, your camera will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.
  5. Hit this link for more information.

Best,
Emerson
