Nest doorbell not recognizing people a the door. Won't stream video when doorbell rings.

Doorbell not recognizing People at the front door.

When the doorbell rings, the Google display won't show the camera stream.

Is Google no longer supporting Nest doorbells and Nest cameras because they no longer function as advertised?  I have a Google mesh router system.  I have good connections to the doorbell and cameras.

Reset router.  Reset doorbell.  Disconnected and reconnected Nest cameras.

@RonM13

Do you have "People" events turned on, and notifications turned on, in the Google Home app?

Do you have "Visitor announcements" turned on for the doorbell?

Can you livestream your doorbell from your Nest Hub, in the Google Home app, or on the "preview"/beta home.google.com website?

Has this gone on ever since you installed your 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell?  (Our doorbells are all the older Google Nest Hello Doorbells.)  Is your doorbell near a Wi-Fi router or access point?

Do you have any issues with your other cameras?

I'm just another Google Nest customer, trying to guess at possible issues.

Thanks.  Yes People events are turned on, vistore announcements are turned on, and i can see livestream from the nest hub.

I recently stood in the entranceway for over 5 minutes without the camera detecting me.  When the door bell rings the nest hub eventually announces someone is at the door but does not livestream the camera.  Both of these features worked when I first installed the doorbell.  The doorbell is undercover so not exposed to the elements.

@RonM13

If you have the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell, then I would suggest contacting Google Nest Support (https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp).

I don't understand why it would work when you first got it, but now is not. Has anything at all changed with your Wi-Fi mesh network?

If you have the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery), that doorbell always runs off of battery power and so is normally in "Idle" mode until it wakes up to detect an event.

Hello everyone,

@RonM13, thanks for posting here in the Community. To confirm, is the Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned off or on? Have you tried using a different mobile device? Is this issue constant or intermittent? Try turning off and on the notifications, people and motion category. Try using a different mobile device and you may consider setting up an activity zone. Keep us posted.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Emerson
