Adding Doorbell to Google Home app

I had to reinstall my doorbell so I removed it from my google home and nest app.  I have successfully added it back to the nest app but can not get it back on the google home app so that I can use it with my speakers.  I get to the point of scanning the QR code and I get the check mark which appears to have scanned successfully but then nothing else happens and it is not on the home app.  I have spent so much time trying to fix it.  Feeling like I have wasted money on these google items (thermostat will no longer connect to wifi after hours of troubleshooting 🙄) help!

Your post says you have the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell.  However:

The Google Nest Hello Doorbell can ONLY be installed in the Google Nest app.

The Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) and the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell can ONLY be installed in the Google Home app.

I had this one on my google nest app and was able to get it to communicate with my google home mini to notify me when someone was at the door.  I was thinking I also had it on the google home app in addition to the nest app

You cannot install the Google Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Home app, but once you install it in the Google Nest app, you should be able to see it in the Google Home app as long as you're logging onto both apps with the same Google (gmail) account and are connected to the same Google Nest "home/structure". (Your name for your Google Nest "home/structure" displays near the top of the initial screen in the Google Nest app, the Google Home app, and on the home.nest.com and the "preview"/beta home.google.com websites.). As log is this is so, you should be able to get "Visitor announcements" from your Google Nest Hello Doorbell on your Google Home Mini.

Google Nest decided that cameras and doorbells released starting in 2021 would work only in the Google Home app and not in the Google Nest app.
