After power surge doorbell works on USB but not when connected throuhh chime

I have a wired Nest Hello Doorbell. Worked fine prior to thunder storm lightning surge. Now seems to work when attached to laptop through USB Port, but not through chime connector which shows flashing green status light and no light at button. Please help.

Have you checked your circuit breaker to see if it tripped the circuit that your transformer is on?  

Yes, the transformer is reading 16.8v, I also switched out to a 24 v transformer...still blinkng green status light.
