Assistant still thinks I have a Ring Doorbell

PancakeLegend

I'm having an issue where it appears that Assistant still refers to my Ring doorbell at times when I give prompts hoping to get info about my new Nest Doorbell (Battery). This may be interfering with my ability to make the most of my Nest Doorbell via my other Nest speaker devices.

The Ring doorbell never had a regular 'Works with Google' type Linked Service, the linking occurred via a Ring web form. I've removed Google access from the Ring account on the Ring side. I went through my Assistant history and deleted every request ever made to Ring. There is also no entry for Ring on the linked accounts page (https://myaccount.google.com/accountlinking).

I suspect there's still some kind of backend link/reference/token on the Google side, but I can't find a way to remove it. Ultimately I want Assistant to forget that I ever had a Ring Doorbell, but I'm at a loss to figure out where or how to do this.

Does anyone know what's going on here?

While we're here, is there a list of prompts to use with Assistant to get info about Nest Doorbell's state or history. Things like "When did my doorbell last ring" would be useful. It took way too long to figure out how to ask for battery status, made worse by the issue above.

Hi PancakeLegend,

Thanks for reaching out. Check out this link and see if the Ring doorbell is still linked. If so, you can remove it there.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Juni

Hey Juni,

Thanks for getting back to me. The link you provided is the same one I linked in my original comment. The Ring account is not linked in that location.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Hi there,

Understood. Are there other accounts linked in your Google Home app? If so, could you check those accounts using that link and check if RIng is still there.

Best,

Juni

It was not there in the linked accounts before and is still not there. While you're here, are there any useful prompts that you can use to get more info about your doorbell via nest speakers?

Hi PancakeLegend,

Thanks for the additional info you've shared. Sorry for the delay. We'd be happy to take a look into this for you. Please fill out this form with all the needed information, then let me know once done.

Regards,

Juni

I now can't replicate the behaviour. Initially, prompts like "When did my doorbell last ring?" would trigger the responses about my Ring doorbell. That behaviour appears to have stopped.

While you're here. Could you please let me know if there's a list of voice prompts to get information about my doorbell status, activity, etc. So far I've only figured out how to get the doorbell battery percentage and estimated time remaining via my nest speakers.

P.S. For the curious, the doorbell currently has 51% battery and an estimated 3 months battery life remaining (likely actually 2 months based on the installation date). I've not charged it yet, so I'd call the battery life acceptable for my light-usage situation.

Kind regards,

Andrew.
