I had 10 deer walk by my battery camera and it didn’t turn on. Same with cats & foxes. Camera is 7’ off the ground. All checkboxes are selected. My wired camera picked all of them up, which is how I know.

When running on battery power, Google Nest's battery cameras and battery doorbells are in "Idle" mode, and they don't seem to do a good job of waking up to detect and record events. We've had a battery camera for 18 months, plugged in with the optional power cable. It detects events as well as our older wired cameras, but if we unplug it and then walk in front of the camera to test it, it does not detect anything.
