Battery draining fast

Thoms654

I am having insane battery drain issues. I've had the new Nest Doorbell for around a fortnight and it drops about 15% each day, so I have to charge it every 4-5 days. I have up a zone, it's close to the router, and I only have 5-10 events/day. All setting configured for max battery life and ignoring outside zone. I was expecting at least 4 - 6 weeks, not days.

Could it be faulty. Do I need a replacement?
Thanks for any support.

Same here. I have about 20 events per day, high video quality, medium sensitivity, and a zone setup so that nothing passing by in the street or path triggers an event.

Put a full charge on the doorbell on Monday and I'm at 66 percent right now. By Googles estimates I should be getting about a month between charges with my usage. Going to contact support.

Did you improve your battery life?

Hey there,
Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to drop in here to help.

I understand that this can be frustrating but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Please let me know.

Best regards,

Hi Garrett,

I got a replacement but still having to full charge (5hrs) once a week….

I have set up a zone, it's close to the router, and I only have 5-10 events/day. All setting configured for max battery life and ignoring outside zone. Not sure what else to do?

I was expecting the charge to last at least a month not a week.

Regards

Mark

Hey folks.

Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. Users can extend the battery life of their camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios.

Nest Doorbell (battery):

  • Busy: About 1 month battery life (About 25 - 30 recorded events per day)
  • Typical: About 2.5 months battery life (About 13 - 16 recorded events per day)
  • Quiet: About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)

Try to look at this article that will go over how to save battery life for your Nest Cam or Doorbell Battery, and please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for responding but did you read my original post?

All of your suggestions have been done and still having to charge every week. I live in the South of England, okay it’s cold at the moment but still only 0 to 5degrees. All setting are on max battery saving. Its only 5m from the router with no issues around connection.

I fully charged the doorbell Sat morning 6am and at 68% Mon 21.30 with about a total of notifications!

This is my second device now and still no improvement!
