My roommate bought the Nest Cam battery indoor/outdoor nestcam.
It worked good. He since has passed .
The camera sat in a drawer for approx a year. I just came across it and decided to try to get it running.
I put the camera on the electric cord
But, there is no light of any kind that will turn on.
If it is broken I don't understand how it happened in a drawer of socks
If anyone can help me I'd more than appreciate it.
Sorry this is so long. I just wanted to give the details
Thank you so much.
This cam was registered in the room mate's name. The account has since ran out.
I have tried gently cleaning the connection prongs with a q tip. Nothing .
I see you can get it replaced, but I don't know where he purchased it and there is no receipt

Is the charging cord plugged in securely in the bottom of the battery camera with the charging cord feeding towards the FRONT of the camera?

I do. I've tried different outlets , you name it. It just won't charge and it was fine when it was placed in the drawer.
I have also tried the reset button.. nothing.
Im beginning to think it's just not looking good.
Thank you so much for trying to help me

Since the battery camera does not have an on/off switch, and can only be turned off from within the Google Home app ( and even then it's not entirely off), I don't know what happens to the camera or the battery if you leave it in a drawer for a year.
You could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in the post below:

Hi everyone,
@Jenerator99, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, have you tried reaching out to our support team? Do you see any lights status when you plug in the power cord? Try restarting it by pressing the button at the back for 5 seconds while the charger is connected.
Looking forward to your response.
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Emerson

Hi,
No light come on at all. Anywhere. I did press the reset (?) Button and again nothing happened.
The Nest cam sat safely in a drawer of clothes for a little over a year undisturbed. It worked great before that. It just quit it seems.
I appreciate all the help. I was looking forward to reinstalling the camera.
Thank you.
Betsy
I didn't know there was a support team here. How do I find them?
Thank you !

I provided a link in my earlier post that you can use to contact Support.
My suspicion is that the battery on the camera may have completely drained due to sitting in a drawer for a year.

Hello Jenerator99,
I’m sorry for the trouble this has caused you. Let me help you out. To factory reset a Nest camera battery, there is a button on the back of the camera that you need to press for 12 seconds until you hear a countdown. Here is a link on how to restart or factory reset your Nest camera or doorbell.
Thanks for the help, @MplsCustomer.
Best,
Edmond

The battery being drained is my fear.
I didn't see a link on how to reset the nest, but I did see one for support
I have had it plugged in long enough to charge a semi and still nothing .
I would have gotten. It out of the drawer sooner, but the truth is I forgot where it was.
In any case I will try support in a w
Little bit . It's shame as it was t even used for a year before it got put away.
Thank you again for all your help.
Sincerely,
Betsy

Hi there,
I’m sorry you had to go through this. But usually, if there is a wired connection to your Nest camera battery, there is an infinite symbol showing on the Google Home screen indicating that the Nest camera battery source of power is a wired connection. Here is a link on how to restart or factory reset your Nest camera or doorbell.
Let me know if you’re able to factory reset your Nest camera and are still having the same issue with the battery power.
Regards,
Edmond
