Caller does not have permission

I am trying to set up my Google Nest camera in the Google Home app on my iPhone but when I get to the step where I need to accept the terms for Nest, I get an error message saying “caller does not have permission.” I’ve found similar issues in the forum but no clear answers/steps to take. Please help.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear you got an error message while trying to set up your Nest Camera. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Is this the first time you are trying to set up your Nest camera?
  • What kind of Nest camera do you have?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Update the Google Home app: Make sure you're using the latest version of the Google Home App.
  • App Permissions: Ensure the Google Home app has all the necessary permissions on your iPhone.
  • Uninstall the app: Uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Home app can solve some glitches.
  • Use another mobile/tablet device: Try setting up your Nest Camera on another mobile device.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

Melissa,

I have the same probem. I get to the supplemental nest terms and then get the error message  that the caller doesn't have permissions. What do I do. I'm trying to add the nest camera with floodlights. I've already wasted half a day trying to do this and also have a wired doorbell to install. Anything you can do to help sure would be appricated.

Was there ever a solution to this? I’m having exactly the same issue when I get to the “supplemental terms and conditions” part of installing my Google Nest Cam

The only solution we found was to set up the camera using a different email. I was trying to set it up with my work email, which is a Gmail account, since the camera is for our office, but ended up needing to use my personal email for some reason, also a Gmail account. When using different email to set up the camera, I did not run into this same issue but do not understand why.

Yes, this is exactly what I ended up having to do. Same problem - work email (which is a google account) didn't work for the cameras although it has no problem with the other Home stuff like wifi etc. Had to switch to personal gmail (@gmail.com) and then it worked. Seems like a fix should be found for this!
