Camera notifications no longer working

Wes-cullom

About two days ago, my Google nest cameras stopped sending any type of notifications to mine, and my wife's phone. I have done the following trouble shooting:

1. Restarted both devices

2. Reinstalled the Google home app.

3. Cleared the cache for the home app

4. Toggled camera notifications on/off in both phone settings and the Google Home App

5. Left the Home in the app, and rejoined it.

The cameras are still recording events that I can see in history, but I no longer get push notifications for them.

This is what exactly is happening to me too currently. Have not changed any settings. Cameras are live and I can pull them up to view history but Nest stopped sending push notifications. Have done all the same troubleshooting steps, still not working.

Hi @Wes-cullom and @Lsiraqse,

Thanks for posting about the trouble with your camera notifications. Great troubleshooting so far, @Wes-cullom! Here are some additional steps you can try:

Important checks:

  • Make sure you're signed into the correct account in the Google Home app. You can only receive notifications for the homes associated with your current account.
  • Verify that your camera is powered on. Most Nest cameras need to be plugged in, while battery-powered ones need to be charged.

Additional troubleshooting:

  • If you've set up Activity Zones, ensure the camera isn't pointed to an excessively bright or dark area.
  • Delete and recreate Activity Zones if there's any overlap.

To help us diagnose further:

  • Have you tried using a different mobile device to receive notifications?
  • Did you set up email notifications (in addition to push notifications)? If so, check your spam folder.
  • Is Airplane mode or Do Not Disturb mode enabled on your phone?

Let us know how it goes!

Regards,

Angel
