I have brand new (6 days old) Gen 2 Cameras x 2 and whilst they work perfectly during the day at detection and recording, as soon as it gets dark they are failing to detect movement and therefore not recording people walking basically right in front of the camera. I have noticed numerous others have also had the problem but what has been done to rectify the problem from Googles end. I have checked all the settings etc and have increased the detection sensitivity all to no avail. Is there a software problem or are these just defective units.

Hey there,
Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.
Best regards,
Brad

Hi Brad
Yes I have tried a reset, however the camera at the front of the house is not detecting people approaching at night. The camera at the back of the house is much the same but obviously doesn't have the same amount of movement to detect. The camera works perfectly during the day detecting anyone entering the detection zone. It doesn't freeze and there is no connection or wifi problems. It just seems to be less sensitive to movement from people or animals at night.

Hey JDG123,
Thanks for sharing that with us. I’m sorry you’re still having trouble with your camera event detection. Let’s sort this out — a few questions: is your camera night vision on at night? How far are the people from your cameras it can’t detect? Also, do you have another mobile device you can check for your camera detection?
I appreciate the help, Brad.
Thanks,
JT

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. In answer to your questions.
1. The night vision is selected to "auto(default)" It is not selected to"Always on" or "Off"
2. People can be as close as 2 metres (6ft) without any detection taking place.
3. Have tried a different mobile device with the same result.
I have also done a factory reset of the camera with no improvement.
Hope this information helps.

This has been done numerous times before. Have restarted cameras and still the same ie. AT NIGHT camera displays the view at all times ok but doesn't notify or record any movement. It does however display, detect, notify and record during the day with no problem.

It sounds like your Night Vision isn't kicking on or detecting it is darker outside. When it is dark, have you checked the settings to see if Night Vision is still set to automatic and not manually off? Just wondering if that is malfunctioning that way. Please let me know.
Thanks for your help here, JT.
Best regards,
Brad
