Cameras offline

I have 11 cameras. 7 of them went offline within a few days. They are not coming back online. It’s not a wifi issue.

I factory reset one of them trying to add it back to my account with no success.

now another one went offline. I’m down to 3 of 11 cameras now. Wtf!?!?

This may not apply to you but if you are in Canada or the EU, the Nest outdoor cameras are restricted to using 2.4Ghz only. I ran across this when I had a problem with the 2.4Ghz radio on my router that took down all of my Nest cameras except for the wired indoor ones. Even if you're in the US and have 5Ghz enabled on your cameras, this could affect any that are at the edge or outside the range of the 5Ghz radio in your router.

I found my problem with the 2.4Ghz band by downloading a WIFI analyzer for my phone and using it to determine that even though the router said the band was active it actually wasn't transmitting anything.

I have 12 and this happens constantly to me because they're just rubnish... Try plugging them in to power it works to rectify that with mine often... I leave them insitu and run a cable out to them. Yesterday one was offline and before i could run the cable out to it just walking in front of it activated it. There's no rhyme or reason they're just a pathetic garbage product with constant issues.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your timely post and the comprehensive information you've provided. I've reviewed the input and understand that you're encountering some offline issues on your Nest cameras, and I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've already taken. I'm here to help you troubleshoot and find a solution together.

To assist you further, please attempt the following questions:

  • What model of Nest camera do you have?
  • When did the issue start?
  • Are you getting any error messages?
  • How far is the camera from the router?
  • Are there other devices connected to the same WiFi where the camera is connected?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the camera?
  • Has the camera ever successfully connected to this network?

In the meantime, you can check these articles:

Please keep me posted.

Warm regards,

Jeremy.
