I’m hoping to get some assistance with a complicated situation I’m facing.
I manage an Airbnb property for my friend, who uses a custom domain email for his business. While this email logs into Google as a Google Account, it’s incompatible with the Nest legacy account, making migration between the two platforms impossible. This is my first issue.
The property has seen multiple renovations over the years, resulting in various generations of Nest equipment. Some cameras work with the Home app, while others require the Nest app for setup and management.
We’ve added Nest Pro wifi routers using the business Google account and manage the internet service and IoT items for guest separation through the Home app. However, when trying to add the Nest cameras, I was directed to use the Nest app, which has proven to be quite troublesome.
When attempting to log in with the business email (let's say it’s bill(at)companyname(dot)com for privacy), I receive a message indicating there’s no Nest account associated with it. I cannot create an account because it recognizes it as a Google account and prompts me to sign in via Google, only to inform me that no Nest account exists and that I need to create one—resulting in a frustrating cycle.
To get things online, I used my personal Google account to create a legacy Nest account for the older cameras. However, when trying to add newer cameras to the business Home account, they don’t register as available, while they do show up under my personal account, allowing me to manage them there.
While this workaround works for security feeds, it’s inconvenient to switch between accounts in the Home app. I thought about inviting the business account to my personal “home” to centralize device management, but I encountered an error stating, “Can't send invite right now.”
I’m feeling quite frustrated and unsure of how to proceed. The business account isn’t changing, and I’m hesitant to share my personal account with my boss or create yet another Google account for device management.
