Google home no longer allows us to record any of our 7x24 history. We can only record events Google Home identifies.
arrgghh.
i have hundreds more events Google Home do not recognize & I can no longer record them from my history. Arrgghh
This works on Nestcam app but not on Google Home app. Working as designed. ???????

Oh, you're referring to saving and downloading clips. Yes, that's a huge gap in the Google Home app; we can only download clips of detected events in the Google Home app. I've seen posts from some customers who resort to using the video recording tool on their phone instead.
Apparently, the ability to create custom clips is available in the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app. We are not on that beta version because we don't want to be on a beta version and because there are still numerous Nest app features that are not in the Google Home app (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234#zippy=%2Cnest-app-only-features), like "Zoom & Enhance", so we're not interested in "transferring" our 1st gen cameras and doorbells from the Google Nest app to this "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app.

That seems peculiar. We have a Nest Aware Plus subscription and we get 10-day 24/7 recording on our 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells in the Google Nest app and on our 2nd gen plugged-in Google Nest battery camera and our 2nd gen Google Nest indoor camera in the Google Home app.

on your camera that’s on the Google Home app, try recording an area that is not a Google event. It does not work for me. Google told me that it’s working as designed For the Google Home app…

On my three nest cam that are still on the Nest app, I can record any section of my 7 x 24 previous storage

I have the same issue. I just bought a Nest battery operated camera and it only works with the Google app and not the Nest app. The other two cameras record 7/24 for 5 days which is all I need but not the other. What a bummer. Thing of returning thr camera to Lowes since I've only had it for 3 days. Any suggestions?

The 2nd gen battery camera cannot record 24/7 when running on battery power, and the 2nd gen battery doorbell, even when wired to a doorbell transformer, always runs on battery power and so cannot record 24/7. Our battery camera is plugged in with the optional power cable and so is able to record 24/7.

I'd recommend reverting your cameras back to Nest App as the Google Home app is severely limited. At the rate they are going they will likely never have feature parity between Nest App and Home App. I'm wishing Google never acquired Nest corp. The innovative features Nest was known for has really stagnated since.
