Can’t talk to visitors (but I hear and see them)

Hi!

I can not speak to the person who rang the doorbell. Did a reset (pin in reset 12+ seconds), no dice. From outside, we hear nothing.

This is with my iPhone.

The doorbell has the latest firmware, as well as my Google Home App and my iPhone.

Any ideas ? I really need the “talk and listen” function.

@Gaggi467

Are you taping the "Microphone" icon in the Google Home app to talk to your visitors?

Thanks ! Yes I do. Tried with the blue mic and multiple blue circles animations, tried with the mic with a line on it also.

What’s weird is, I did not hear a sound when I reseted it …

@Gaggi467

I suppose you could try deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app.  You won't lose any settings.

Thank you so much for replying! I was afraid to delete the Home app… I will try it for sure,since I will keep all my settings!

Well… deleted the app and reinstalled it. Doesn’t work.

I noticed that when I do a reset, and begin the process of activation, I do not hear the sound you get usually (with the green light).

 I think that the cold winter we had, maybe broke the speaker… IDK…

Hi folks,

I’m sorry for the delayed response. We appreciate your efforts here. Let’s see what’s going on — a few questions: when did the issue start? Is your phone connected to a Bluetooth speaker? Has the camera suffered any drops or impacts? Also, have you tried checking it with another device?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Ensure that your phone isn’t on mute.
  2. Test if the device’s microphone is working.
  3. Open the default voice recorder app or any other app that uses your device’s microphone and test the device’s microphone on the app.
  4. Check if the device is connected to a Bluetooth device that may be serving as the microphone.
  5. When you use the talk and listen tone, press the microphone icon first to talk, wait for the beep to talk and transmit your message to the receiver’s side and vice versa.
  6. Restart your phone, turn it off and wait for 60 seconds. Then, turn it back on.

I appreciate your help, MplsCustomer!

Thanks,

JT

Hi! Unfortunately, all the suggestions are not working. I can not even hear the chime you get, at the beginning of the configuration.

So I decided to buy another one. 😕 Expensive but had no choice, my handicap make it too hard to answer the door.
Many thanks for all your help! Much appreciated!
