Can the NestCam Floodlight be plugged in with AC adapter?

I recently purchased the wired nestcam floodlight. I was going to mount it and plug it into an outdoor outlet I have to power it. Instead, it is wired like a light fixture and where I’m hanging it, there’s no previous electrical wiring. Is there a way to power the nestcam floodlight with an AD adapter in a weather protected outlet instead of hardwiring it into a previous light fixture?
(and I just splice the wired of an AC adapter, connect them, and plug it in?)

Thanks

Did you ever get a chance to do this? I' looking into doing this as well.

I absolutely did it. It worked well. The biggest issue I had was stuffing the wires behind the mount because there was no hole in the wall. I’ll take pictures when I get home. I used an exterior extension cable and just cut the wires to wire it together with mirettes and electrical tape. Biggest issue I’m having is how to fill the gap with caulk as there’s a pretty big gap between the mount and wall because it needed to fit the electrical cord.

I’m not sure why the pictures are uploading sideways but here’s what I mean about the gap between the mount and the wall because of the power cord. Otherwise is worked like a charm!  47A1E88F-C574-42F6-A29A-AA177B283A59.jpeg

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. It appears that you were able to accomplish what you wanted which is great. Just wanted to check in here to see if you needed any other help on this or if we are good to close it? If we don't hear from you in 24 hours we will go ahead and lock the thread.

Best regards,

Garrett DS

Feel free to close it.  The one tip I did have was to stuff styrofoam in the gap around the mount so I could caulk and seal it. Worked like a charm!
