Cannot add nest outdoor camera

I accidentally deleted my backyard camera (battery) from the app. Now when I try to re-add it, I get to where it says connecting to your camera. But thenit times out saying try moving closer to your camera. I have the phone, camera, and router less than a foot apart. I have mobile data turned off on my phone and have already tried holding the reset button until it chimes. LED indicator is solid white the whole time. Googles customer support is nonexistent. Thanks for any help guys.

You sound relatively experienced or at least researched a bit. The mobile data thing is an issue and they won't connect if it's turned on that's correct. Same wifi network and location on. Reset and same wifi connection password as previous seems to help "did you change your password by any chance?"... Sorry i don't want to frustrate you just trying to help. I'll try leaving the frustration part to the pathetic google cams...

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I'm sorry to hear that you're having inconveniences re-adding your Nest Cam Outdoor to the Google Home app. Help's here!

Since you mentioned attempting a reset, I would like to know if you attempted a factory reset by holding down the reset button for 12 to 15 seconds until you heard the confirmation tone and saw the blue LED lights. Additionally, I'd like to know if the lights were solid or pulsing. For more information, you can refer to these helpful articles: Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell and Nest camera and doorbell lights and sounds.

To effectively assist you, I'd like to ask the following details:

  • Is your Nest Cam Outdoor battery or wired? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify the model of your device.
  • Are you using the Nest app or Google Home app?
  • Are there any other devices that experience inconveniences with the Wi-Fi?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?
  • What is the mobile device that you're using for the setup?
  • Have there been any changes on the WiFi network?

In the meantime, I'd suggest the following steps:

  • Make sure the firmware version of the mobile device and the Nest app or Google Home app are up to date.
  • Enable the “local network” option for the Google Home app and the Prime Video app.
    • For iOS devices, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
    • For devices with Android 11 or 12, go to Settings > Enable “Use network information” > Continue.
  • Reboot your router device and update your router's firmware, if needed. Sometimes routers have bugs, and there are firmware fixes to address them. Make sure your router is running the most updated software.
  • Put the mobile device on airplane mode, then turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. And make sure the Bluetooth isn't connecting to another mobile device.
  • Restart the phone or tablet.
  • If possible, try adding your Nest Outdoor camera using a different mobile device.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
