I cannot connect the google nest camera, outdoor version, to the google home app.
The error message that I get when I attempt to connect the camera is "Can't connect to assisting device".
I have 4 nest thermostats that I tried to connect to the google nest camera as assisting devices, but none of the 4 were able to assist.
I reset the Wifi and I get the same error message.
I reset the camera, and I get the same error message.
What can I try next to get this to work?

Same problem here. I have two new battery cameras. Once I connected them to weatherproof cable both are offline. I deleted them from google home and cannot re-add them now.

The issue persists. I’ve also deleted the app and reinstalled then tried re adding the cameras and no help.

In the same boat. I bought a 3 pack and was able to connect one, but not the other 2. I’ve tried with the camera right next to the nest pod, still no good

This issue is fixed for me after co yachting customer support. It involved getting back up on a ladder and factory resetting the camera by holding the button on back until it finishes chiming, then adding them to google home. . I also first had to disconnect my nest thermostat from the nest app and reinstall once I was done with setup with cameras. Hope this helps.

I have a similar problem with wired cameras. I only installed one camera successfully before getting that error on the second one. I tried resetting it (wired is just unplug/plug back in), but that doesn’t help. I also tried to leave the first camera unplugged while trying to add the second one. Many other threads talk about that issue, this one is the first one I see where people made progress.

This worked. It also fixed my Nest Hub Max camera. Seems the old school Nest thermostat is the problem.

Hey folks,
A decent fix for this is for you to Factory Reset the camera and remove it. Add it back in, and then if you still have the issue restart the device. If you have a Thermostat, please follow what your fellow Community Members suggested.
Best Regards,
Brad.
