Cannot factory reset nest doorbell camera (wired)

Seen many posts for this, but nobody was able to resolve?

I press the reset pinhole button on the back of the unit. and then press the doorbell button and the unit shuts off after about 5-10 seconds. it takes about 10-15 seconds than boots up with a blue ring. Unable to add to the nest app because it still has old settings on it. How do you resolve this?

Ive also taken it off the doorbell power, and brought into the house and plugged into microUSB and it does the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there!

It sounds like you're having trouble fully resetting your Nest Hello doorbell. Let's work through some steps to resolve this.

Double-Check the Reset Process

  • Verify the Reset Procedure: Make sure you're holding both the reset pinhole and the doorbell button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.
  • Observe Light Patterns: The doorbell should chime, the light ring should spin blue, then flash yellow, and finally turn off completely.
  • Allow Complete Reboot: Give the doorbell ample time to reboot before attempting setup.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

  • Remove from Nest App: Have you removed the device from the Nest app before trying to set it up again? This can sometimes interfere with the reset process.
  • Clear App Cache and Data: Clearing the Nest app cache and data might resolve software-related issues.
  • Update Nest App: Ensure you're using the latest version of the Nest app.
  • Try a Different Wi-Fi Network: Setting up the doorbell on a different Wi-Fi network can help isolate network-related problems.

If you've tried all these steps and the issue persists, it might be helpful to provide more details about the specific problems you're encountering, such as:

  • What happens when you try to set up the doorbell after the reset?
  • Are there any error messages?
  • Have you tried using a different phone or device for setup?
  • What's the color of the LED light on the doorbell after trying to do the setup?

By gathering more information, we can better pinpoint the root cause of the problem and find a solution.

Regards,

Brandon.
