Cannot select specific day for video history on new Nest camera

Because video history for the new Google Nest Camera Battery cannot be accessed on a computer--unlike existing Nest cameras--there is no way in which we can select and view a specific full day from the camera's full video history (which we have because we have the camera wired).

Further, when viewing video history for the new camera in the Google Home app and looking at "Full History" (to see events, not the full video history), the dates are displayed with just the day of the week and the month, but the day of the month is omitted.  (That is, you see just "Friday, September 2021" regardless of which Friday in the history is being shown.

In addition, where  events for previous Nest cameras are identified by the Zone or Zones for the camera, events on the new Google Nest Camera Battery are identified only by the group ("Room") to which the camera belongs.

Just add it to the growing list of things omitted in the Google Home app.  Another thing I really miss is the NEST app generates clips that have the time and date stamp overlayed on the video.  The new system does not.  So unless you label the clip manually there is no record of the time and date stamp on the recording (at least that I can see)

Hello there, folks.

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I am terribly sorry to hear that you have ran into these issues with your video history. I can imagine it's been quite frustrating. I would like to help find a solution for you.

  • Have you made sure that your Google Home App is up to date on it's firmware?
  • I would restart the cameras too, power cycle the app as well.

I do know that this has been a requested feature, so I will of course, collect this information and submit it forward to the appropriate teams. Thank you for all of your patience, and please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

@Brad,

I am confused by our response. You are advising us to make "sure our Google Home App is up to date on its firmware", but the Goggle Home App does NOT have firmware; it's an iPhone app that is current. Both of our Google Home Hubs have firmware that's at 1.52.260996. Google's support website says the current production firmware version is 1.54.250118, but there is nothing we can do as a customer to update the firmware; it's all automatic and controlled by Google. Unplugging and restarting (a suggestion on one forum) does not trigger a firmware update. Besides, none of what I reported occurs on the Google Hub.  You are also advising restarting the camera, but the camera is brand new and is mounted 10 feet up on our house and is carefully positioned; we shouldn't have to dismount restart the camera to fix the problems I reported.

I don't think the following three issues that I reported are affected by the firmware version of the Google Hub, since none of these are accessed from the Google Hub. Nor are they settings in the camera itself:

1. We cannot select a day's history from the new camera to view by selecting it from a calendar because this is done online from a computer on the Nest Home website, and this is not available for the new camera.

2. When looking at "Full History" for the new camera from the latest iPhone version of the Google Home app, it displays just "Friday, September 2021", omitting the day of the month, so all Fridays in September have the same title.

3. Events on the new camera are identified in the Google Home app by the "Room" to which the camera belongs, not by the "Zone" where the event occurred.
