Cannot view any of my Nest cameras. Spinning icon forever.

I have multiple cameras indoor and outdoor, both older Nest and newer. For the past couple days I have not been able to watch any footage on any of them. They are obviously working as I can see event preview images on the timelines but if I try to view live it plays for a second and then goes to the spinner. If I try to scroll back on the timeline I just get the spinner forever. This is all of my cameras in the Google Home app (iOS). They’re all completely useless at the moment. I’ve tried streaming from my WiFi and T-Mobile 5GUC. I’ve restarted my WiFi network and modem. I’ve done everything outside of factory reset on all of my cameras which sounds like a nightmare.

Any magic tricks to make them work again?

Yes, resetting to factory settings is indeed a headache beyond belief.   But if you go that route make sure you REMOVE the cameras from the NEST app or Google Home app first.

Out of curiosity what happens if you go to your web browser on your computer.

For cams in the NEST app use home.nest.com and for cams in the Google Home app use home.google.com

Also, as a troubleshooting step can you load the app(s) on another phone and see if it works there?   Be sure to LOG OUT of the apps on your current phone and then use the same LOGIN credentials on the 2nd phone.

Hi @MikeNC!

Thank you for posting in the community, and to @mdr2 for the recommendations! I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble viewing footage from your indoor and outdoor Nest cameras in the Google Home app on iOS and are seeing the spinning icon when trying to watch live or scroll the timeline. I appreciate your efforts in taking those steps before. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • What are the exact models of the two Nest cameras? Here's an article that can help you identify them: Technical specs for Nest cameras and doorbells.
  • Is the Google Home app up to date?
  • Do your cameras display any LED lights? If so, what color are they?
  • How far are the cameras located from your WiFi router or any mesh points?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the cameras?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi
