Changing Wired nest Hello tones

Shiftymorgan
Community Member

As the topic says.

I cannot change the time of the doorbell when someone presses it.

It's not in any of the menus.

Why is this?

Thank you.

@Shiftymorgan

If you are referring to the seasonal themes that the doorbell can play around holidays, Google Nest only turns on this option around holidays:

Hello there,

No I mean other ringtones other than the default one.

Thank you for responding.

@Shiftymorgan

The seasonal (holiday) ringtones are the only ringtones I've ever seen, and they only appear in the app around a holiday.

@Shiftymorgan

For Google Nest, there are only seasonal ones. As your link says "At certain times of the year, you may have only one choice of doorbell theme, but Google periodically adds seasonal themes. For example, during the winter holidays, there are Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s, and Christmas doorbell sounds, and the Halloween / fall holiday themes arrive for October and November."

In 4 years of Nest Hello doorbells, that's all we've seen either.

So your saying the Google nest doesn't have basic features like the wireless one does?

@Shiftymorgan

I don't know. I know I've only seen seasonal themes/ringtones around holidays for our Google Nest Hello Doorbells, and Google Nest's online documentation seems to day the same is true of the newer Google Nest doorbells as well.

My brother has the battery one.  It has more tones any time of the year.

The Google document says:

In addition to standard themes,

I don't have anything standard

Hi Shiftymorgan,

I’m sorry for the delay and to hear you're having trouble with this. I appreciate your reports here in the Community. Let’s get this sorted out.

A few questions: what type of Nest doorbell do you have? Are you using an iOS or Android device? Do you use the Google Home or Nest app?

Doorbell themes, whether standard or seasonal, will depend on where the device is set up. The Google Home app and Nest app have different settings for doorbell themes.

More information here: Nest camera or doorbell settings.

Keep me posted.

I appreciate your assistance, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Lance

Hi there,

If you're using the 1st Gen Nest Hello Doorbell, here are the steps to change your doorbell theme.

1. Open the Nest App.
2. Tap on the Doorbell.
3. Tap Settings.
4.  Select the doorbell theme. (Take note that there is only one option for the default theme, unlike with the 2nd Gen Nest wired.) Select your seasonal theme if it is available.

For the 2nd Gen Nest Doorbell, here are the steps to change your doorbell theme.

1. Open the Google Home app.
2. Find your Nest Doorbell in the device section and tap it.
3. Tap the settings cog in the top-right.
4. Tap Doorbell.
5. Find and tap the Doorbell theme.
6. If you want to choose a seasonal chime, select it under Seasonal Themes. If not, tap Classic themes.

Let me know if that helps.

Best,
Edmond
